The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission which gives the car a fuel economy of just 5.3 litres of diesel per 100km. Utilizing a 50-litre fuel tank, the Kangoo has a theoretical range of 900km.

The diesel model adds to the existing lineup which includes a 1.6-litre petrol (70Kw and 148Nm) with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto transmission.

Renault expects the Kango to appeal to small business owners looking for a car capable of carrying a decent payload (620kg). The car has a cargo space of 2.75m2 with a low loading sill of 605mm. The passenger seat can also fold flat to allow room for longer items.

Features include air-conditioning, CD-player, power steering, remote central locking, electric mirrors and windows, dual sliding side-doors and roof rails. There is also dual front side airbags, ABS and EBD.

Model RRP
Kangoo 1.6litre petrol 5-spd manual $20,990
Kangoo 1.6 litre petrol 4-spd auto $23,490
Kangoo 1.5 diesel 5-spd manual $23,990

Seems reasonably priced for europe’s top selling van. Will Skoda now compete & import their van version of the Roomster – the Praktik ?

Please give us something interesting to have a debate about. This is a car-lover’s site, not something for cardigan-wearing schoolteachers looking for something unobtrusive, yet big enough to have a bonk in the back of.

I hope this model proves better than the current model Kangoo I own. Currently into the six month of hell with the arrogance of Renault. Removed a clutch they admitted they shouldnt have, replaced a clutch cable and then dropped the clutch out to fix internal parts and its worse than at the start. The mattr is still ongoing. Buyers beware…..even under warranty they are hell to deal with.
