Pedestrian rating? How dumb. Why not add a “suicidal squirrel” rating, and a “bug friendly windshield” rating too. Gees.

If one such figure would be mentioned, I would not anymore be able to assess the front adult rating, which is what I am really interested in.
I will only pay for stranger protection if I am obliged to.

i think front adult ratings is what should be shown. i dont think combining them is really fair.

although i do think they should publisise the other areas of test results a little more

The point though Michael is that the article argues that manufacturers were only quoting the highest score of the multiple scores in their marketing campaigns, so this method forces them to take all the areas of safety into account, as one poor score will drag the average down.

I think the 5-star rating is going to increaswe to 6-star, make it that bit harder for them.

Saw a Chinese Geeley crashed test, did not EVEN MAKE 1-STAR as it becomes your coffin.From car-to-coffin :-)

I don’t think a single score is the way to go. Multiple scores give a clearer view of what is really going on. A single score will make it easier to hide an area that is lacking so long as the vehicle performs consistently well in other areas. Not to mention things like child safety being very important to me at the moment, but not important to lots of other people because they don’t have kids. Multiple scores allow a buyer to best choose a vehicle that suits there needs.

make perfectly good sense to me. quite often the pedestrian NCAP fugures don’t get a mention.
