Video: Senna documentary at the Sundance Film Festival

The documentary based on the life and racing career of arguably the greatest Formula One driver of all time, Ayrton Senna, has debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.

Senna features countless breath-taking racing scenes and in particular focuses on Senna’s rivalry with French driver Alain Prost.

The film’s screenwriter and executive producer, Manish Pandey, reportedly trawled through 15,000 hours of archival footage of Senna to put the 104-minute documentary together.

As well as showcasing Ayrton Senna the driver, the film also uncovers Ayrton Senna the man: a highly philosophical and spiritual human being with a contempt for the politics of his sport.

Pandey showed Senna to renowned hard-man Ron Dennis – the Chairman of McLaren Automotive and former head of the McLaren Formula One racing team – who reportedly cried for 10 minutes after the film before reminiscing about Senna for two hours.

Senna has been confirmed for Australian release in 2011.
