Video: BMW ConnectedDrive Concept Vehicle

BMW has released a teaser video of the all-new BMW ConnectedDrive Concept Vehicle ahead of an anticipated unveiling at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The clip gives little away about what the car will actually look like, giving just a vague outline with a number of coloured lasers.

The ConnectedDrive Concept Vehicle is not expected to form the basis of a production vehicle, but rather showcase the next generation of BMW’s ConnectedDrive technologies.

ConnectedDrive is a combination of BMW’s in-car convenience, infotainment and safety features.

There are currently five BMW ConnectedDrive features built into production vehicles: BMW Assist, BMW Online, BMW Tracking, BMW TeleServices, and in-vehicle internet access.

The ConnectedDrive ‘Future Lab’ includes a range of technologies in the pipeline for BMW, including remote controlled parking, traffic jam and queuing assistant, seamless media access and mood-based playlists, lateral collision avoidance, emergency stop assistant and mobility assistant iPhone application, to name just a few.

BMW says the ConnectedDrive Concept vehicle will bring a number of these new technologies to life for the first time.

“2011 is … the year in which we are setting the course for the future … with an extraordinary vehicle, which will once again revolutionise driving in terms of comfort, infotainment and safety.”

BMW is famous for its pre-Motor Show leaks and reveals, so expect to see more of its latest creation in the lead-up to Geneva, which opens to the public on March 3.
